Lee is a Senior Institutional Consultant and has focused on 401(k) plans for more than 18 years. His experience as a former IRS Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent and Third Party Administrator (TPA) is very uncommon among financial advisors and his expertise in plan design, compliance and fiduciary best practices enables him to advise plan sponsors on the overall management of their plans rather than focusing solely on investments. This approach has consistently earned him national recognition as one of the top 401(k) advisors in the country.
Lee was named a “PLANADVISER Top Retirement Plan Adviser” every year from 2022 to 2025 and was included on the prestigious and final list of “401 Top Retirement Plan Advisors” in 2020 by the Financial Times. He was also recognized by the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA) as one of the “Top Retirement Plan Advisors Under 40” in both 2019 and 2020 and his team as a “NAPA Top DC Advisor Team” in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025.
Before co-founding Longleaf Capital Group, Lee spent a decade at Morgan Stanley, where he served as a Vice President, Corporate Retirement Director, Financial Wellness Director and was one of the few National Strategic Partners within the firm. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he was a partner in a regional CPA firm, directing its Retirement Plan Services division for eight years and providing Third Party Administration (TPA) services for qualified retirement plans.
Lee has earned numerous academic credentials, including an associate degree in business from Enterprise State Junior College, a bachelor’s degree in finance from Troy University and a master’s degree in financial planning from the University of Alabama, where he graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA and was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. He has also obtained 18 professional designations during his career, including Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) from Yale University and the Investments & Wealth Institute, Certified 401(k) Professional (C(k)P®) from UCLA Andersen School of Management and The Retirement Advisor University, Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) from the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA), Certified Pension Consultant (CPC), Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA), Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and Qualified 401(k) Consultant (QKC) from the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA), Accredited Pension Administrator (APA), Accredited Pension Representative (APR) and Accredited 401(k) Specialist (AKS) from the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA) and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) and Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS®) from the College for Financial Planning.
